Spinosaurus |
Roles
Diver: High oxygen makes the Spinosaurus an exceptional choice of guardian for short dives. With higher damage and health than the average Megalodon, they are more than capable of fending them off, make sure to watch oxygen however. As of Patch 243.0, Spinosaurus (and all tamed dinos) will not surface if following a player that is swimming, remaining underwater until they run out of oxygen and begin to drown.
Damage: Possessing faster attack speed than the Rex, the Spino also has a slight range advantage, better AoE and knockback; many enemies that can threaten the Rex when grouped will be completely unable to attack the Spino from the front. It also enjoys a noteworthy overall speed advantage over the Rex; although Rex can briefly overhaul it in a swift dash, Spino has superior stamina efficiency and recovery, permitting it (unless stopped by obstacles) to escape or overtake a Rex over a long chase. (Level up in Health and Damage)
Tank: With lower health than most other large class dinosaurs, the only noteworthy advantage the Spino has over more traditional tanks is the aforementioned range and speed. Could be useful for kiting of bosses in the nearby future. (Level up in Health, Stamina, and Damage)
Transportation: With reasonable health, good damage-per-second, modest stamina, decent carrying capacity, the ability to swim and infinite stamina while swimming, the Spino proves to be an effective all-around method of locomotion. While a Raptor or Carno is faster on land, a Spino will be hindered by far fewer obstacles and can challenge many other species in combat. (Level up in Stamina, Damage, and Speed or Weight)
